Chapter 36 andSnapshot
Fidel wouldn’t be happy.
Exactly why does the United States want to take over Cuba? Trump says he wants regime change, but what would our country do if Vladimir Putin waged war against the United States, saying he wanted regime change? Shouldn’t Cuba have the right to determine how they want to govern itself?
Marco Rubio isn’t happy with Cuba because his family was refugees. He hates the Communist Party, but is that enough reason for us to try to take over Cuba? It seems more likely that the president and his people have become extremely greedy and want to control all of the Caribbean and South America. Cuba, Venezuela, and what’s next?
If Trump can get rid of the Communist President, he hopes to make Cuba more economically accessible to American business people. I suppose he could rationalize that he’s trying to help the Cuban people, but in the process, his blockade is casting them into darkness without the resources they need to survive. Gas is $40 a gallon, and God knows what the food supply is.

Trigger smiled at Rufus Wainwright. He realized the rich New York City boy was way out of his depth. He didn’t want to hurt the boy, but it looked like he might have no choice. Wainwright stood in front of him, refusing to budge. He was smug and arrogant, and he told Gia Orsini he could expect a good time with him. He knew the finest clubs in Boston and New York and had plenty of cash to spend on an Italian beauty like Gia.
The big man from Revere had finally had enough. He reached over, grabbed Wainwright by the collar, and dragged him across the room. The preppy fought, swinging his arms like windmills, but it did no good. He landed several blows on Trigger Logan’s chest, but he might as well have been hitting cement.
Trigger opened the door and stepped outside with Wainwright. He walked another thirty feet to one of the many fountains on the MIT campus. He lifted one leg and tossed the boy into the water. Several nearby people laughed, and even a security guard who knew something about Wainwright smiled. Logan then re-entered the MIT building and walked back to report that Rufus Wainwright had gone for a swim in the fountain outside. Both Gia and Enzio smirked, then headed to class.
In another part of the world, a more serious drama was unfolding. Han Cho, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, was not a happy man. He had learned of the failed mission to capture the young MIT genius and was visibly upset. He had concocted a plan for his intelligence service to kidnap six to eight of the most promising students from elite universities around the world. He wanted high-tech computer experts to help shape the future of North Korean cybersecurity. He knew that once he brought them to his country, they would comply. Pain and suffering were always the best motivators in academia. How could this mission have failed? He was outraged, and he was not a man who easily lost face. Someone needed to be punished. His own men were dead, so what was he going to do? He smiled. He’d take care of that snotty little American boy at MIT. He’d either recapture him or kill him. Kidnapping him might be difficult, as it would be very hard to get him out of the United States. If need be, he’d send a message through the untimely death of a young student destined for brilliance.
